Reno Tahoe Territory…an eclectic mix of awe inspiring contrasts…Pristine mountain peaks. Lush rolling meadows. Frontier towns. Sophisticated cities. Legendary gaming. Old-west saloons. World-class skiing. Championship golf. Top-name entertainment. Cowboy poets. Action and excitement. Rest and relaxation. And the most majestic lake in the world.
From the window of an airliner, the steep eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range appear to form an enormous elevated bowl, nearly overflowing with the deep blue water of Lake Tahoe.
Notice the distance between Lake Tahoe and Carson City. By air, it is about a 9-mile span, but the elevation difference is nearly 1,500 feet. The resulting image is stunning; an alpine sea hanging suspended over the glittering resort cities, the state capital, and the towns of Minden and Gardnerville, which are almost directly below it.
Of course, that is just one of the stunning images in the Reno-Tahoe Territory. It was created by the Nevada Commission on Tourism (NCOT) in 1984 to promote tourism to the region. Encompassing the Reno/Sparks, Carson City, Carson Valley, Lake Tahoe, and Virginia City areas, the Reno-Tahoe Territory reflects logical geographical identification and traffic patterns. The Group Tour Planner was created to assist in the promotion and packaging of the Reno-Tahoe Territory.
The Reno Tahoe area, including Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Carson Valley, Virginia City, and Lake Tahoe, is quite possibly the most versatile and tourism rich area in the country.
